As a midwife, when it was my turn to give birth and raise my child, all my decisions were made through hands-on experience in the delivery room—

First, I absolutely would not choose painless labor for my first birth. It’s not that I don’t trust it; I’ve seen too many cases where labor was prolonged after receiving pain relief, and in the end, a cesarean was still necessary. I want to feel the labor process with my own body.
Second, the place of delivery must be somewhere that can save both my life and my baby’s. Whether the food is good or the environment is beautiful doesn’t matter—I just want to stay alive. I only choose large hospitals equipped with emergency rescue capabilities.
Third, for the sake of my baby and my own postpartum recovery, I will fight to breastfeed, especially in the first few days. I will breastfeed vigorously and frequently. As a midwife, I know that the golden colostrum cannot be replaced by formula.
