SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce affirmed that the regulatory agency is ready to cooperate with businesses on tokenization, but emphasized the complexity of how tokenized assets interact with traditional securities.

Tokenized securities are a digital representation on the blockchain for ownership rights of assets such as stocks and bonds, existing alongside paper and electronic certificates.

The tokenization market is currently valued at around 31 billion USD (, of which 714 million USD is tokenized equity ), and according to McKinsey, it could grow to 2 trillion USD by 2030 as financial institutions adopt it to improve liquidity and operational efficiency.

Peirce believes that tokenization, along with stablecoins, is one of the few crypto areas with clear practical applications, while calling for a flexible and nuanced approach in building the legal framework.
