Billionaire Druckenmiller: Has bought a large number of long positions in two-year Treasury bonds

Billionaire investor Stan Druckenmiller said he had bought a "significant" long position in two-year Treasuries as concerns about the economy intensified. Druckenmiller joins a group of high-profile investors, including Bill Ackman and Bill Gross, who have recently issued warnings about the U.S. economy. Unlike Ackman, Druckenmiller said he maintained his short bet on longer-term bonds because he feared a surge in U.S. government bond issuance. However, he said that with the purchase of a long position in two-year Treasury bonds, this is the first time he has been long fixed income products since 2020. Druckenmiller said the U.S. economy is weakening as pandemic-related stimulus measures "rapidly reduce". Historically, the simultaneous rise in interest rates, oil prices, and the U.S. dollar has been bad for the economy.
