Fed officials will speak intensively this week before the quiet period.

On October 13, due to the U.S. government shutdown, there is a scarcity of official economic data releases this week. However, before the Fed's monetary policy meeting on October 28-29, several officials still have a busy schedule of speeches. The new President of the Philadelphia Fed, Harker, will give her first major speech since taking office on Monday; she will become a voting member of the FOMC starting in January next year. Fed Chair Powell is expected to speak on Tuesday afternoon to update his economic and policy views. The new Fed governor, Mulaney, also plans to attend four different public events on Wednesday and Thursday. (Jin10)
