Gold Ten data, November 5th, researchers said that it is expected that a tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico at the end of the season will strengthen into a Category 2 hurricane this week, which may lead to a reduction of about 4 million barrels in US oil production. Tropical storm Rafael, located in the Caribbean Sea, is expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico on Monday night and pass through the major oil-producing areas along the way. Energy analysis company Earth Science Associates said that US oil producers may reduce production by 3.1 to 4.9 million barrels of oil. According to the company’s model, the impact of Hurricane Rafael on offshore production ranks second in this year’s storms, second only to Hurricane Francine, which resulted in the closure of 42% of oil and 52% of natural gas production capacity.
