The executive of a subsidiary of Korean Internet giant Kakao is suing GroundX, Kakao’s blockchain department, for approximately 1 billion Korean won ($7.6 million). The legal action stems from a Hacker attack on the Klip cryptocurrency wallet integrated into Kakao Talk communication application. The Hacker attack occurred in March 2022 when the executive’s Kakao Talk account was compromised. After the breach, the stolen cryptocurrency was transferred to an overseas exchange. During the litigation, a Kakao spokesperson stated that the company is currently integrating and optimizing GroundX but lacks sufficient personnel to handle this situation.
