The chief strategist of Ngoại hối at ABN AMRO Bank, Jane Foley, stated in a report that the euro is expected to decline against the US dollar in the next 6 to 12 months, reflecting the resilience of the US economy relative to the euro area, despite the significant uncertainty that the political situation may inject into the prospects of the US dollar. She stated that ABN AMRO Bank expects the euro to trade around 1.08 against the US dollar in the next 6 to 12 months, with the current level being around 1.0928. The US dollar may strengthen next year as fiscal policies, regardless of the presidential election results, could trigger inflation. She said, ‘The inflationary impact of increased fiscal spending after the election may support the US dollar next year.’
