The U.S. Navy will deploy the anti-ship version of the "Tomahawk" cruise missile before September.
On May 31, the U.S. Navy will begin equipping destroyers with anti-ship versions of “Tomahawk” cruise missiles by the end of September. The head of combat readiness of the US Navy believes that the move will be a “game-changer.” Admiral Daryl Caudle, commander of the fleet, said that the well-known US non-nuclear missile, which is currently used for land attacks, will greatly increase the lethality of the troops when equipped with the navy. Tomahawks made their battlefield debut in the early days of Iraq’s Gulf War in 1991 and were also used against Houthi targets in Yemen earlier this year.
