Ripple (XRP) Price Prediction: SEC May Soon Drop Appeal, XRP Bulls and Bears Engaged in Fluctuation
Today (4th) in the Asian early session, Ripple (XRP) is caught in a tug-of-war between bulls and bears, with the price currently reported at $2.2432. Investors are closely watching the important announcement from the SEC, and various rumors have driven up the demand for XRP. Investors believe that the SEC may vote on whether to withdraw the appeal during the originally scheduled closed-door meeting.
Cryptocurrency analyst Xaif commented at the SEC closed-door meeting: “There are rumors that the SEC will officially withdraw the appeal today (July 3, 2025, 2:00 PM Eastern Time) and finally put an end to this case. There are 9 hours left… is it coming to an end soon?”
However, after Judge Analisa Torres rejected the joint motion for a declaratory judgment regarding the settlement terms, former SEC attorney Marc Fagel downplayed the likelihood of an SEC vote. He commented, “The SEC may still need to vote to reject the appeal. Then, the parties will need to submit documents to dismiss their respective appeals, after which the district court’s order will take effect. This may take weeks or even longer, but it could also speed up. There is currently no specific timeline set.”
Affected by the expectations of the announcement from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the price of XRP once surged to a high of $2.3144 on July 3. However, the SEC’s silence on the Ripple case led to a decline in the price of XRP to below $2.3.
Despite the pullback, investors remain optimistic about the appeal withdrawal. Commenting on Judge Torres’ ruling regarding the settlement terms, cryptocurrency lawyer MetaLawMan stated, “The SEC and Ripple can dismiss the appeal without any court approval. I suspect we will soon see both appeals dismissed, as both sides’ lawyers must have anticipated this outcome—Judge Torres will not overturn her previous ruling.”
In January 2025, due to market optimism that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) would withdraw its appeal against the ruling on the programmatic sales of XRP, the price of XRP hit a high of $3.3999. If the SEC abandons the appeal, the trend in January suggests that XRP may experience a breakout.
XRP Price Outlook
FXEmpire analyst Bob Mason stated that the recent price outlook for XRP depends on developments related to the Ripple case and updates regarding the XRP spot ETF.
Breaking through the high of June 30 at 2.3275 USD, bulls may aim for the May high of 2.6553 USD. Continuing to break through 2.6553 USD could pave the way for a breakthrough of 3 USD and the 2025 high of 3.3999 USD.
On the contrary, breaking below the 50-day EMA may affect the 200-day EMA and the support level of 1.9299.
