GMPayer: cross-chain x402 payment hub for AI Agents

For 30 years, status code 402 has been reserved as a “Payment Required” placeholder. This creates a fundamental bottleneck for AI Agents of autonomously negotiated services: they have funds, the servers require payment, but the protocol itself does not have a native way to complete the exchange.

Coinbase and Cloudflare established the x402 Foundation in September 2025, aiming to standardize the solution to an unnoticed bottleneck problem on the internet through decentralization and encryption technologies. Major tech companies, including Google, Visa, AWS, and Anthropic, have joined and integrated it into their respective platforms.

However, connecting funds to AI agents is not just a matter of speed. To ensure that x402 payments between AI are secure and reliable, the entire loop must bind value to proof, rights, policies, and throughput all at once. It requires a fast track with finality, a truth layer that converts execution into receipts, an ownership layer that correctly pays contributors, and a channel that supports multi-currency liquidity.

Then, it also needs to expand across chains and currencies without relying on centralized intermediaries.

GMPayer was born.

GMPayer (GOAT-Metis-Payer) is the first multi-currency payment hub powered by x402, developed in collaboration with LazAI and ZKM, and jointly supported by Metis and GOAT Network. It enables instant, trustless pay-per-request functionality across multiple blockchains and currencies, without the need for centralized intermediaries, accounts, or human intervention, allowing x402 to operate across various blockchain ecosystems.

Four-phase vision

The four-phase roadmap of GMPayer outlines the development path from simple autonomous transactions to a fully decentralized AI economy. Starting with the establishment of a payment hub driven by x402, it gradually evolves into a universal value exchange layer, allowing AI, data, and services to interact seamlessly across all on-chain.

Phase 1: Build a payment hub

Launch the first multi-currency payment hub based on x402, serving AI Agents. This enables agents to independently pay for data and computing resource costs, creating real economic interactions between intelligent agents.

Stage Two: Make payments trustworthy and controllable

Users can securely grant small payment permissions to their agents, which can maintain control and budget limits outside of centralized cloud.

Phase Three: AI Business Network

Build an AI business network with DAT as the asset unit. AI services become assets; each invocation is a transaction, evolving from a “tool” into a sustainable profit system.

Phase Four: General AI Value Exchange Layer

Any Web3 chain can seamlessly introduce AI into the application layer.

For the first phase, the GMPayer architecture will be deployed with the following initial configuration:

LazAI: Through its data anchoring token (DAT) standard, LazAI directly binds sources, rights, and revenues to datasets and models. Each x402 transaction is mapped to its contributors, enabling automatic cross-chain revenue distribution per call.

ZKM: Utilizing zero-knowledge proof technology, ZKM ensures that the x402 facilitator maintains verifiability and trustless characteristics. It verifies quotes, authorizations, and payment loads—providing portable truths for agents and auditors while maintaining neutrality.

Metis: As the core of execution and settlement, Metis anchors transactions on Andromeda and extends reasoning workloads through Hyperion. Its low fees and fast finality make x402 microtransactions economically viable.

GOAT: As the native Bitcoin settlement layer, GOAT introduces EIP-3009 support and zkRollup infrastructure to bridge stablecoins and Bitcoin between GOAT and Metis with ultra-low fee cross-chain operations.

What is $BANG?

1. $BANG is a proof of concept (PoC) token issued simultaneously on Metis Andromeda and GOAT Network, with a total supply of 1 billion on each chain, 500 million on each chain; of which 250 million will be used for token minting and 250 million for liquidity on each chain. $BANG The token is currently only for proof of concept and has no utilities.

2. Just contribute 1 dollar in $xMETIS or $xGOATED through the x402 standard to receive 5,000 $BANG tokens, as part of the METIS Andromeda and GOATNetwork PoC.

3. You can donate any number of times before reaching the available limit, but each donation is capped at 1 dollar.

4. Token minting will begin at 00:00 China time on November 4, 2025, and will last for only 72 hours.

Operating principle:​

Send $xMETIS or $xGOATED through x402 payment request on Metis Andromeda or GOAT Network. Each transaction generates a verifiable proof and returns the corresponding amount of $BANG tokens as confirmation. GMPayer supports both Metis Andromeda and GOAT Network, allowing you to convert tokens between $METIS/$xMETIS and $GOATED/$xGOATED at a 1:1 ratio. Note: $xMETIS and $xGOATED are token standards compatible with EIP-3009, designed to support the x402 protocol standard.

Important tips:

Every time you click “Mint now”, after authorizing offline signing in your wallet, the system will automatically charge you 1 dollar worth of $xMETIS or $xGoated and return 5,000 $BANG to your wallet address.

The token minting event lasts only 72 hours.
