YouTube responds to creators: Education, commentary NFT, blockchain video breakeven, only for gambling websites

Recently, YouTube announced that starting from November 17, it will expand its online gambling content policy to prohibit directing users to gambling websites that offer items of monetary value (, including game skins, cosmetics, and NFTs, causing panic among encryption content creators. Many are concerned that the platform will completely ban videos related to encryption games. However, YouTube officials pointed out that this update will not affect general encryption game or NFT-related videos.

Official clarification: The target is a gambling platform, not an encryption game.

A YouTube spokesperson stated: “Displaying in-game skins or cosmetics, or discussing items with real-world value, such as NFT(, will not be affected by this policy update.” The platform emphasizes that the policy targets gambling-focused websites and promotional content, rather than legitimate encryption games or player experience videos.

The company pointed out that the strengthening of the gambling policy is due to the increasing number of creators accepting sponsorships from gambling websites, which not only offer cash rewards but also use encryption currency or NFT as incentives. The new policy will require the removal or age restriction of all videos directing to such websites; if the website has received Google certification, it will not be affected.

Community Reaction: Panic has subsided, but gray areas still exist.

According to the latest statement from YouTube, as long as the videos do not promote gambling websites or guarantee profits, the content will not be deleted or receive warnings. Creators who educate, review, or simply showcase game content can still publish safely. YouTube added that any content that guarantees profits or promises quick returns may still be deleted, regardless of whether it is linked to gambling websites. Furthermore, even if it meets the guidelines, videos showcasing certified gambling applications will still be age-restricted to comply with industry standards and consumer protection requirements.
