The Taipei District Court ruled that Ko Wen-je was released on bail of 30 million New Taiwan dollars
On December 27th, Jin10 Data reported that on the morning of December 26th, the chairman of the Taiwan People’s Party, Ko Wen-je, was prosecuted by the Taipei Prosecutor’s Office and sought a sentence of 28 years and 6 months. The Taipei District Court held a hearing in the evening to decide whether to continue to detain Ko Wen-je and five other defendants. In court, Ko Wen-je pleaded not guilty and denied multiple charges brought by the prosecution. The prosecution pointed out that there was a suspicion of perjury by Ko Wen-je and requested continued detention. After more than 6 hours of trial, the court determined that the risk of obscure facts related to the case has dropped and ruled at 3am on the 27th that Ko Wen-je should post a bail of NTD 30 million, and the other four defendants in custody should also post bail. All individuals are restricted in their residence, exit from the country, and contact with and interference of witnesses are strictly prohibited. This means that after Ko Wen-je raises the bail money on the 27th, he can return home.
