US special envoy visits Venezuela to discuss deporting immigrants and bringing back 6 Americans

On February 1, Jinshi Data reported that US President Donald Trump’s envoy visited Venezuela briefly on January 31, met with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, and brought back 6 American citizens who were previously detained by the Venezuelan side. The White House said that this visit does not mean that the US government recognizes the Maduro government. The Venezuelan side hopes to continue to maintain contact with the US in the future. Trump’s envoy, Richard Grenell, only stayed in Venezuela for a few hours. The White House said that his visit mainly discussed repatriating Venezuelans in the US and seeking the release of Americans detained by the Venezuelan side.
