On February 14, Jinshi data, Trump said on Thursday that Indian Prime Minister Modi proposed to discuss reducing tariffs, buying more American oil, natural gas, and fighter jets, and making concessions in the trade deadlock. The proposal was made in the White House talks between the two leaders just hours after Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the environment facing American companies in India and announced a roadmap for imposing reciprocal tariffs on trading partners. Trump said, ‘Modi recently announced a substantial reduction in India’s unfair and very high tariffs, which have greatly restricted our access to the Indian market.’ ‘I must say, this is indeed a big problem,’ Trump said, some of the new targets are ambitious: India hopes to increase purchases of ‘billions of dollars’ of American defense equipment, including fighter jets, and may make the United States its ‘top supplier’ of oil and natural gas. Modi said India hopes to double its trade with Washington by 2030.
